Northiam Bonfire Procession & Fireworks
A traditional Sussex Bonfire Night
Next Event: Christmas Craft Fair Dec 4th
About Us

Northiam Bonfire Society came into being in 2012 as a direct result of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations as villagers realised that we hadn’t lost the art of joining together and having a good time. Nick Searle took the initiative, contacted Sussex Bonfire Council, and called us all together on Monday 10th December when the Society was formally founded.

Over the years the annual Bonfire Procession and Fireworks has become a very popular event in and around Northiam and now regularly attracts crowds in excess of 2,000. To raise the necessary funds the society also organises a number of other events throughout the year and these have also become popular, emphasising the fact that any NBS event is well worth attending.

Bonfire info

Northiam's Bonfire Procession will be held on Saturday 9th October, leaving the Bonfire Field (on the A28 south of the village) at 7.30pm, processing into the village as far as the Muddy Duck, before returning to the bonfire field.
Once back at the Field at approximately 8:30, the Bonfire will be lit, followed by our Firework Display.
There will be a bar, food and children’s amusements on the field.
Entry to the Field is just £1, but we hope you will want to give generously to the charity collectors along the way (rattling our distinctive purple buckets).
*Road closures in effect from 6:30pm to 11pm (earlier if the Police agree)*
**There are no street lights in Northiam, so you are advised to bring a torch!**
***Any seller on the Main Street selling glowing products, is nothing to do with the Bonfire Society and we receive no money from them***

Craft Fairs 2022

This year we have three events, the Spring Craft Fair on Sat 19 March, the Summer Festival Craft Fair on Sat 25 June and the Christmas Craft Fair on Sat 3 Dec. The Spring and Christmas Fairs will be held at Northiam Village Hall, providing crafters with a table and two chairs. The Festival Fair will be out of doors on Northiam Playing Field, where crafters will be allocated a 16sqm pitch only, so will have to bring their own table, chairs and gazebo if needed.

The cost of each Craft Fair will be £20 but, if you book all three at the same time, there's a saving of £10 so you pay £50 for the three. A form is attached to be completed and returned together with a cheque. You can email the application form if that’s easier, to the address shown on the form. BACS payments are welcome, a reference number will be provided so our treasurer can trace the payment.
